Landon Divers

Landon Divers 1902 -2007 Local historian, sailing enthusiast and former Fond du Lac Reporter columnist, died at the age of 105. Divers created several videotapes documenting history of the Fond du Lac lakeshore, Lakeside Park and the Fond du Lac Yacht Club. Divers worked for more than 40 years in Madison, in positions ranging from high school instructor at a semi-private school on the University of Wisconsin campus to professor in the botany department. While a student at the University of Wisconsin Divers met Charles Lindbergh who lived in the basement along with Divers. Landon would call him "Chuck." After his retirement in 1968, he began visiting his hometown more often and chronicling the history of Lake Winnebago and the Lakeside Park area. It was a labor of love that captivated his interest for nearly 40 retirement years. Ref: The Reporter Staff - December 11, 2007
